白石砬子国家级自然保护区距宽甸县城北 30 公里处，遥望高山巍峨，两峰并立，“两峰森列，西为白石砬子，古称天台山，东为黑石砬子。两峰杰秀，怪石嵯峨，皆为悬崖绝壁，俗称大孤缸和三孤缸，石壁映月，遥望如积雪，遂以白石名之。”

    白石砬子为宽甸县境内高峰之一，海拔 1275 米，方圆近百里，天然林面积 70800 亩，森林总蓄积量 67 万立方米。

    白石砬子自然保护区林深木秀，红松、杉松、匍匐松、紫杉、云杉、花曲柳等珍奇乔木竞相生长；山梅花、天女木兰、玉铃花、锦带花等灌木山花争芳斗艳；名贵药材上百种，东北山秀，黄柏、细辛、北五味时隐时现；更有珍禽异兽穿行其间，黑熊、野猪、狍、獾怡然悠闲，自得其乐。

    白石砬子自然保护区还以其独有的科研价值而著称。它是国内次生林区植被保存完整珠一个综合性、多学科的森林生态类型自然保护区，尤其是其保存完好的原始森林，为研究古代植物进化有着极重要的科研价值。

    白石砬子山水景观甚称一绝。山高峰险，穿云逐日，白云斧凿刀削，直插云端；聚仙洞浑然天成，清幽神奇 …… “更有清泉相映，弥足称奇，史料载：‘天台与云台之间，有飞泉二道，澎湃奔腾而下，一为南股河上源，如瓮，是为蒲石河上源'白石砬子由此称‘水眼'。正应山多高水多高之说，瀑布泉，滴水湖，喷翠泉‘疑是银河落九天'，高山高水，正是‘山在云雾里，水在缥缈间'”。

    It locates 30km to the south of Kuandian City , from here you can see two mountains towering side by side. According to history records “ the west mountain is Baishilazi , the former Tiantai Mountain , the east is Baishilazi . The two elegant mountains have many jagged rocks of grotesque shape forming precipices and cliffs , which have been called Dagu Jug and Ergu Jug . The cliff looks like snow in moonlight so it was called Baishilazi ”.

    Baishilazi is the highest mountain in Kuandian county , towering 1275m over the sea level . It covers an area of near one hundred Li . Its natural forest is 70800mu amounts to 670 , 000 ㎡ of timber resource .

    Variety of species find their way here including Korean Pine , cedar , Waukegan juniper , ground hemlock , spruce and Fraxinus rhynchophylla . The flowers include mountain plum , fairy magnolia , Yulan magnolia , ribbon flower . The crude drugs include Northeast Shanxiu , golden cypress , the root of Chinese wild Ginger , the fruit of Chinese magnoliavine , The wild animals and beasts have a leisurely life here such as black bear , wild pig , roe deer , badger .

    The natural preserve is famous for its scientific research value . It is the only natural preserve in China with well protetcted secondary growth for comprehensive and multi-principle research , especially the well protected primeval forest has a critical position for research on evolution of paleophyte .

    Baishilazi has the unique landscape . Its steep mountains reach high into the sky ; the fairy's cave was formed naturally , deep and mysterious ; “ In addition to this is the wonderful water , the history records read like this : two cascade running between Tiantai and yuntai Mountain , renning down loudly , among which on is the source of south river and the other is the sourch of the north river ; on the west side of the peak a fountain sprays to several chi high with diameter like a jar , which is the source of Pushi River ” That is why Baishilazi was called the water source . It is said that however the height of the mountain is the water is . The water takes Various form Including cascade , water dip lake , jet fountain ” , just like the famous poet describes ” mountains towering into the clouds where water flows . ”
